The Kastehelmi product line from Iittala was designed by Oiva Toikka in 1964. It is undeniably reminiscent of dew in Icelandic nature, but the Finnish word Kastehelmi means dewdrops.
Iittala is a Finnish design company that designs and manufactures decorative items and tableware for the home. Iittala's history began in 1881, but initially the company produced a variety of glass products. At the beginning of the 20th century, the company moved out of the pens by starting the production of clay products and later steel products. Iittala's philosophy is largely modeled after the designer Kaj Franck, who said that all things should be useful, durable and practical.
